DIALOGUE ON TUNISIA: Implications of uprising for SA’s strategic planning and growth path

MISTRA Executive Director, Joel Netshitenzhe, gave a presentation on 9th March 2011 at a workshop co-hosted by the Mapungubwe Institute (MISTRA), South African Women in Dialogue (SAWID), the Independent Development Trust (IDT) and the Solomon Mahlangu Freedom College Trust. The aim of this workshop was to explore the emerging political events in Tunisia against the backdrop of recommendations made to the South African government after a 2006 Chile/Tunisia study tour undertaken by SAWID, the IDT, various government departments and other civil society stakeholders. The study  explored the successful poverty eradication strategies of Tunisia and Chile. Both of which had managed to halve poverty long before the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) timeline of 2015.
