Page Image Mistra DescriptionAs part of its new strategy for the active dissemination of its research work in progress, MISTRA will, from time to time, be issuing Working Papers that highlight key aspects of its work in progress leading up to the final release and publication of its research reports. These Working Papers will seek to engage our partners, stakeholders and the general public in the debates and discourse around the key domestic, continental and global challenges that MISTRA's research seeks to address. In this second Working Paper, we are pleased to publish a draft chapter by Sonwabile Mnwana for MISTRA's research on Mediating Convergence and Divergence: Traditional Leadership and Customs in a Constitutional Democracy. His chapter is entitled, Chiefs, Land and Distributive Struggles on the Platinum Belt: A Case of Bakgatla-ba-Kgafela in the North West Province, South Africa.
