    Earth, Wind & Fire: Unpacking the political, economic and security implications of the discourse on the Green Economy provides policy guidelines to transition to a low carbon economy in South Africa, analysing issues on clean energy transportation, waste tyre recycling, sustainable mining and the water-energy nexus among others, and further the book emphasizes the importance of an integrated mix of policy instruments to promote sustainable development and a green economy.

    The keynote and plenary discussion will be led by Dr. Sunita Narain, a leading global environmentalist and political activist from India. She is Director General of the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) in New Delhi, which is the publisher of the fortnightly magazine Down To Earth.

    Following the keynote will be a panel discussion comprising global and national sustainable development and climate change experts discussing the Transition towards a Low Carbon Economy: Challenges and Opportunities for South Africa, and countries of the Global South’.
